Teaopia’s “Mate Vanilla Mint” Tea

So this morning I brewed myself a pot of the second tea that I purchased from Teaopia in Waterloo. The Mate Vanilla Mint tea smells delightful and its rich blend has actually maintain my good mood but did not have the same effect as the “sleep well” tea did last night.

The supposed purpose of this tea was to help be a “pick me up” in the morning. Rather then having to utilize coffee I’m trying to find alternatives. Mind you I will never give up espresso but I am looking to reduce my intake. Having had a cup in the morning, and taking a travel mug with me to work, I can’t really say that I feel better or more energized as the clerk at the store had claimed it would do. I actually feel bit tired. That could be a contributing factor to my morning workout or the fact that I slept so well.

Nevertheless the tea was delicious. In both cases I used no sweetener, but in the event that I do, I have only honey (trying this new thing to eliminate sugar from my diet).

Overall I recommend for everyone to go to the nearest store and check out the blends of tea and accessories that Teaopia has to offer. The atmosphere is great, staff is very helpful, and the tea is delicious.

Teaopia’s “Sleep Well” Tea

Last night I finally got around to doing a taste test for one of the two tea’s I purchased from Teaopia in Waterloo. I brewed myself 1/3 of the pot that I have, set it on my table and proceeded to sip on the first of two cups of tea I was going to have that night. To my surprise, a mere 30 minutes later I started to feel the effects, I think. It could have been due to the hour of night, or perhaps the tea really did have an effect on me, but I started to feel sleepy.

As the package suggested, I did sleep very well. Typically I would wake up at least once in the middle of the night, toss and turn and then fall back asleep. Last night I managed to sleep right through without any issues. I guess those two cups of tea worked.

Now this morning I’m having a cup of Vanilla Mint Mate, which will supposedly help give me a boost in the mornings, which will help since I’m planning on hitting the gym again. Brewed enough for a cup at home and to fill my travel cup into the gym.

I’ll let you know how well it succeeds in waking me up.

Later.

The Bolthouse Challenge: Strawberry Banana & Green Goodness

Day 4 of the challenge, I decided to indulge myself in the last two flavours. Of course not all at once but within the span of the day. As my morning snack, I treated myself to the Strawberry Banana smoothie. Being a fan of both fruits, I was eager to try out the combination. Without disappointment, I was immediately satisfied by the smooth taste of strawberries and bananas in the beautiful combination that they were joined. Although the combination is pleasing, the shake still managed to make me feel heavy after consumption.

Benefits: Great taste!

Downsides: After consumption you feel heavy, does not taste the greatest once warm.

Taste Score: Out of 5 this shake scores a 3.5.

Later in the day, as a late afternoon snack, I finally finished the last bottle in the challenge. The Green Goodness smoothie, isn’t all I thought it would be. Although it does provide a good balance of apples, pineapple, mango, banana and kiwi, the smoothie itself did not taste the best. Perhaps the combination threw my taste buds out a bit. Nevertheless, enjoyable and a great substitute for a morning or afternoon snack.

Benefits: Great source of a fruit.

Downsides: Didn’t sit all to well with my stomach.

Taste Score: Strawberry Banana = 2.5 / Green Goodness = 2

The Bolthouse Challenge: Vanilla Chai

Day 3 of the the taste challenge, and I’m trying out the Vanilla Chai. I’ll be honest I didn’t really read the title and notice the “Chai”. As an individual who doesn’t like chai, the taste unfortunately ruined it for me. I wish there was a vanilla only option, so for me, I have to say this one iss a no go.

Benefit to this shake, just as with the Moca Cappuccino, is that it comes with 19g of protein. A decent substitute for those individuals who require additional protein in their diets or for someone who is coming off of a good session at the gym.

Benefits: Like the Mocha Cappuccino, the Vanilla Chai also contains protein.

Downsides: The Chai taste is too strong, a definite discouragement for my personally tastes.

Taste Score: Out of 5 this shake scores a 1.5.
