Latest Addiction

About 3/4 weeks ago I had gotten my second tattoo, which is something that not only represents me as a person but also is something I believe in fairly strongly.

They say that once you get one tattoo, you either get addicted or you get discouraged. Well after getting my first one:

I am definitely addicted.

Today I went to see my friend Chris, who’s family own’s Tora Tattoo’s in Waterloo On, and I got my next set of tat’s done:

Its funny, I posted a status update on Facebook saying, “Partying in Waterloo this weekend, maybe get another tattoo?” and two days later, my friend Chris texted me telling me he has openings the same day I was going to be in town. He booked the appointment, I sent him my designs and now I am the proud owner of 4 tattoo’s.

One thing that I dislike though about tattoo’s is when people get things that are meaningless. Tattoo’s are forever, so why put something on your body that does not mean anything to you. For example, tribal tattoo’s. There is no meaning to them, and now it seems everyone has one. I know that they look cool, but there really isn’t a personal meaning to them, is there? Anyway, it is what it is. My tattoo’s all have meaning to them. Take the one on my back. For many its hard to read but it is my last name. The dates are the birth dates of my two boys. The one on my arm is something I live by and strongly believe in. And the two on my wrists, well one is my birth date, and the other is Anubis, God of the Dead. The meaning behind this one is really personal, so I wont be sharing it publicly.

I have a few more tattoo’s I’d like to get, and those ones have a purpose and meaning as well. I won’t spoil them right now, but I know that at least one of them, my mom will definitely like.

For now, I think I am done for the year. Oh … which reminds me … all my tattoo’s have been placed on my body within the year. The one on my back I did the day of my birthday, my arm, 4 weeks ago, and of course the two on my wrists today. I think I need to stop before I get out of hand.

So for now … I think I am done … I think … ;)

Sweet Awakening

Few days ago I indulged my senses in something fabulous! Starbucks recently released their new Toffee Mocha and Apple Cinnamon Strudel muffin.

Despite the mocha being slightly on the sweet side it didn’t take away from the richness in muffin. Initially I tried eating the muffin as is, but after the first bite, I concluded that it was best to try it heated. Throw it into the microwave for 10-15 seconds and enjoy a soft and delightful treat. It really does help make the morning more enjoyable, especially since our mornings seem to be getting cooler and cooler as the days go by.

Starbucks has really hit something here with fall coming in fast and the cold weather moving in even faster, this delicious treat will surely warm up any cold body ;)

Griffin Elevator

Well, I went into Apple looking for the mStand by Rain Design but unfortunately it seems that they don’t carry that particular product. Instead they did have however Griffins Elevator stand. Initially I wanted the mStand for the sleek aluminum design and the solid design, but after looking over the Elevator, I decided to try it out. My initial hesitation was with regards to the fact that it was not one solid piece, but when I finally got it home, I realized that because of the split design it was actually more practical for travel or storage.

Putting it together was not difficult, the included instructions weren’t really even needed. The end product is relatively solid and holds fairly well under weight. One plus about it which is not clear on the website, is that there are two plastic tabs at the end to hold the laptop in place. I initially did not see these on the website and was thus hesitant on getting the product because I was worried about the laptop sliding off. After getting it all put together and placing my laptop on top of it, I started to organize my stuff around it. The space underneath is currently utilized by my 1TB HDD and the cables no longer are scattered across my desk. The end result is elegant:

Now the only thing I am looking at doing is hooking up the monitor that I currently use for my PS3 to the laptop. Another option running around in my head is to purchase a 21” iMac and use it as my primary desktop and then in time upgrade my MacBook to a 15” MacBook Pro when finances permit.

All in all I would highly recommend the Griffin Elevator for someone who has a small desk and would like to keep things organized. Despite it not matching fully the elegance of Apples aluminum design, it makes up for it with the extra space underneath to store anything.

My rating: 5 out of 5 stars
